Which Tool?
I tested 200+ apps over five years and built a decision matrix so you don't have to remember which tool to use and when.
I’ve taken notes on different apps and tools (tools for thought, or TFT, is what I call them) in my Obsidian vault for five years now. At this point, I have over 200 notes dedicated to tools for thought.
Yes. I have personally used and tested 200+ apps.
Why? Honestly, I have no clue and even I think it’s a weird little hobby. I’ve just always liked experiencing different UIs and seeing how app developers crafted their product.
I’ve used these notes as a reference on when to use which tool and when, and they’ve always been helpful. One thing did start to frustrate me though. The friction of having to remember which tool to use in which scenario.
So I built a tool decision matrix based on those 200+ notes to eliminate this friction.
After getting the matrix in “good enough” working condition, I realized this could be valuable for others too. But there was one requirement I decided on when making this into a public site: it has to be completely free and available for all.
