Which Tool?

I built a resource to pick the right tool at the right time

I’ve taken notes on different apps and tools (tools for thought or tft is what I call them) in my obsidian vault for 5 years now.

At this point, I have over 200 notes dedicated to tools for thought.

Yes - I have personally used and tested 200+ apps.

Why?

Honestly, I have no clue and even I think it’s a weird little hobby.

I’ve just always liked experiencing different UIs and seeing how app developers crafted their product.

Anyways, I have used these notes as a reference on when to use which tool when and they’ve always been helpful.

One thing DID started to frustrate me though..

The friction of having to remember which tool to use and in what scenario.

So I built a tool decision matrix based on those 200+ notes to eliminate this friction.

After getting the matrix in “good enough” working condition I realized this could be valuable for others too.

But there was one requirement I decided on when making this into a public site.

It has to be completely free and available for all.

No subscriptions, no ads, just ready and willing to help at all times.

I AM considering adding the ability to make an account so you can make your own tool stack but that’s for future Noah to decide on.

I’m also considering open-sourcing this so others can contribute new tools and their experiences with each.

But again, future Noah’s got that.

Thank you for reading and the site is linked at the top, feedback is always welcome.

Enjoy!

Disclaimer

  • Some of the tool notes are years old so not everything is up to the current date.
  • The notes on each are also subjective but like I said above, I have tested 200+ apps.. You can trust me.
